10 Legit Ways to Make Extra Money Online

There are currently almost 4 million Americans that work remotely from home nationwide! You can’t see me, but I’m raising my hand to show my inclusion in that statistic.

Not part of the work-from-home group? No worries, there are still creative and legit ways to make money from home even if it’s not your full-time job.

I’m using some of these ways as well because who wouldn’t want more money?

Let’s get started on some of the tried and true ways to help you earn that extra money from the comfort of your own place.

1. Give Your Opinion – Get Paid

This will not be the fastest way to earn money, however, all you’re doing is clicking some buttons to get cash vs. doing nothing and not getting paid. Your best bet is to sign up for multiple opinion websites to maximize your earnings as it’ll add up by the end of the month.

Here are our favorites:

  • RewardsBuck: You can easily earn a $10 Visa gift card just on your first visit by checking out their free offers. They also have surveys, games, and free deals which after you collect enough points, are redeemable for more Visa gift cards.
  • InboxDollars: A site that’s been around for 18 years. Watch short video clips or read emails to get paid. You also get $5 just for signing up!
  • Ipsos I-Say: One of the largest market research firms in the world, you’ll get paid with Amazon, Starbucks, Target gift cards, Paypal or Visa gift cards after you earn enough points from survey taking. Be sure to confirm your email to get access to surveys!
  • Harris Poll Online: One of the oldest market research companies will pay you for influencing brand decisions via gift cards. You’ll also be entered for a chance to win $10,000 every quarter.

2. Play Free Games to get Paid

While you’re watching TV or taking surveys, and play free scratchers for chances to win from $1 – $25,000! On my 5th scratcher, I won $1.50 and I didn’t even have to leave the house to go to a convenience store.

There is minimal thinking involved with Lucktastic, as you’re just “rubbing” the virtual cards with your finger.

You can also win Groceries for a Month ($500) which you can enter daily for free as well. My friend Natalie K. won $100 after her 2nd week of playing so anything can happen!

Applike (Android only) is an app that introduces you to free mobile games.  When you download and play them, you get paid! Most of the time 10-20 minutes will suffice.

You can redeem for:

  • Paypal Cash
  • Amazon
  • CVS
  • Walmart
  • and more!

And if you have friends that like to get paid to play games, refer them and you’ll get 25% of whatever they earn! In return, your friends will ALSO get 25% of what you earn so it’s a win-win situation for everyone.

3. Save your Grocery Receipts and Take a Picture

When you do leave the house for a supermarket run, be sure to use Ibotta (download for iOS Apple Store or Android Google Play), to get additional savings on groceries you’re already buying.

At home, upload your receipt and voila!

Here’s a quick peek at my earnings from Walmart after I uploaded a receipt:

When you’re ready to cash out your earnings, you can choose either Paypal, Venmo, or gift cards.

So don’t throw away those receipts and upload them to Ibotta, where you can get a $10 bonus for a limited time! You can even use physical coupons to stack on even more savings.

4. Recycle Your Trash

If you’re already recycling your cans & bottles, kudos to you for helping the environment!

But what about other ways to recycle or upcycle used items? DIYers and crafters often have a need for a large number of items we throw away such as:

  • Wine bottle corks
  • Empty toilet paper rolls
  • Old books
  • Beer bottle caps
  • Empty Altoids tins
  • Box Tops for Education

These are real items that people buy on eBay! If you have space, get your friends/family to donate these items to you and sell them online.

Sell other people’s unwanted items. You can also head to Craigslist or your local community website that’s similar, go to the “Free” section under For Sale and re-sell items for 100% profit. There are people that just want to give away excellent condition used items rather than selling it themselves, so you can take advantage of this.

6. Grab $10 from Ebates Welcome Bonus

If you already shop at Amazon, Walmart, Macy’s and similar, have you joined the Ebatestrain yet? They’re partnered with 2,500+ stores where you can get cash back on purchases you already make.

Stores pay Ebates to send members to their websites, and Ebates shares the money with you.

Right now you can get a $10 welcome bonus if you’ve never used Ebates before!

7. Set your own hours with Uber

Rideshare services have boomed in recent years and if you like meeting new people while driving, you can make extra cash by becoming an Uber driver.

Set your own hours, nights, weekends, etc you name it and turn on the Uber app whenever you feel like making money. It’s completely flexible and suited to your needs. You also get paid weekly.

If you want to try, there are some eligibility rules: You must be at least 21 years old, have at least one year of licensed driving experience in the U.S., have a valid US driver’s license and pass a background check.

As for myself, I drive when I know there are events going on (concerts, conventions etc) where driver demand and pricing is increased. It costs more for the rider to pay during this time, so this means the driver (potentially you) can earn more for driving less!

See if this popular Uber side gig is right for you. It was for me.

8. Rent out your apartment with AirBnB

You definitely don’t have to leave home for this gig. With AirBnB you can rent out your extra room, the garage, or even the couch! With a little creativity and sprucing up the decor, almost any space in your home can be rented out and you’ll be paid via Paypal or Direct Deposit.

Worried about strangers? AirBnB has $1,000,000 Host Guarantee which protects your property up to a million dollars. If your guests get hurt or cause damage to your place, it’s insured so you can have peace of mind.

Also, all guests are required to submit a real photo, verify their phone and email to AirBnB, and you, as the host, can choose to let them stay in your home or not.

This is a great opportunity to utilize your space for extra cash. Try it out for a few months or even the summer to see if you like it!

9. Sell Gigs on Fiverr

If you have any sort of skill, chances are, you can probably sell it on Fiverr, an online marketplace for freelancers. A service, which they call a “gig” sells for $5 and up.

They have traditional gigs like:

  • Graphic design
  • Writing
  • Translation
  • Proofreading
  • Testing Websites
  • Singing

And they also have quirky gigs like:

  • Writing online reviews
  • Human Billboard
  • Pet Modelling
  • Relationship advice
  • Meal Plans
  • Prank Calls

If you don’t have a traditional service to offer, you can see that other types of skills are sellable too! Utilize your cute pet’s face, your interests, and see what can be sold.

It’s free to join the Fiverr community, free to set up a gig of your choice and your work will be offered to a global community. You’ll get paid immediately when each gig is completed.

10. Write Slogans

Like to write? Companies are paying for slogan ideas and your creative lines could be paying towards your rent.
